Wild West Guns

August 6, 2008

more about “Wild West Guns - Shoot Em Up Gameplay“, posted with vodpod

You feelin’ lucky, punk? We’ll I certainly hope so as Wild West Guns hit North American WiiWare shores on Monday. Bring the heat to some outlaw hiney and show the town you’re the quickest gun in the west.

On another note, Is it me or does this game look an awfully lot like that western themed shooter found in arcades back in the mid 90’s? Whether or not this is a remake, it still looks like fun.

Fatal Frame 4’s Fans’ Favorite Fashions

August 6, 2008

Fatal Frame 4 has been out in Japan for about a week and it appears that Nintendo not only published this game but also got the developers to sneak in a few memorable outfits before releasing the game. Nintendo themed costumes were made for this exclusive Wii game in case you want to swap out your camera wielding counterpart’s garb for something a little less… dingy. Samus Aran’s Zero Suit and Luigi’s patented green and blue gear are confirmed to be in-game options. It’s unclear if there are any other Nintendo branded outfits available but I wouldn’t doubt if we’ll be seeing a few others.

I find it rather clever that they put Luigi’s costume in a game about ghosts when he starred in the GameCube launch title, Luigi’s Mansion. It seems like Luigi has been going down a “dark” path in the last few games he’s been involved in. His Final Smash in Super Smash Brothers Brawl involves a sphere of chaotic elements being dealt to those within it and became an antagonist in Super Paper Mario for nearly the entire game as well. Now that remnants of his image have popped up in a horror based game, who knows where he’ll end up next.

Call Of Duty: World At War Interview

August 4, 2008

GR: When during development did you identify the core of the game?

ML: There was a point, when we put some great-looking Japanese character models in a Pacific environment with standard Call of Duty AI - and it just didn’t work for us. It looked great, but the enemy didn’t “fit,” and the scenarios didn’t feel like they should. We realized we needed to focus specifically on Japanese tactics in order to realize this new enemy. It took a few more months for this to come together, but when it did, it helped crystallize the game. It was around that time that… the game took on a grittier tone.

MotionPlus Minus the High Price

August 4, 2008

When shown at E3 this year, the Wii MotionPlus peripheral was one of the best things to come out of the Nintendo event. Bringing 1:1 controls closer than ever before, the device is sure to have gamers clamoring for reservations across the globe. However, they won’t be needing to fork over too many bills as Satoru Iwata announced Nintendo won’t be attaching a hefty price tag to it.

“There will be games that will be enhanced by the Wii Motion Plus as well as games that can only be played with it. Users will need four if they have four controllers, but we’re going to try to offer it for as little as possible. We haven’t announced the price yet, but the cost of making the Wii Motion Plus is not that much, so I think we can make it very affordable.”

As the actual price hasn’t been released, there’s no telling how “affordable” it will be. It could be anywhere between $20 to $60, give or take. I’m just glad the add-on is coming.

N-Gamez Interviews Telltale

August 4, 2008

N-Gamez: Why was WiiWare chosen as platform for the new Toki Tori game?

Martijn Reuvers: The game plays, looks and feels like an old school Nintendo game, so it just made sense to put it out on WiiWare.

N-Gamez: What are your general thoughts on Nintendos WiiWare service, how does it differ from competing services like Xbox Live Arcade or Playstation Network, and where does its strengths lie?

Martijn Reuvers: I think it has a lot of potential, but so far I have yet to see a games really taking advantage of the creative freedom offered by WiiWare. And yes, I do know that Toki Tori is also an enhanced port of an existing game. ;)

Confessions of a Screenwatcher

August 3, 2008

I can see through walls. I can track down my enemies through their own eyes. I can have my crosshairs where your head will be when you turn that corner. I can dodge snipers. And if I don’t want you to know my whereabouts, you better believe I’ll stare directly at the wall. My name is Jay and my game is the split-screen shooter.

A Good Read - Malstrom on Nintendo’s E3 2008

August 2, 2008

The notorious video game analyst Sean Malstrom has recently put up an article on the topic of E3, Nintendo’s conference, and the Journalist, core, and press’s reaction to it. He talks about Nintendo’s business stragety, of not battling Sony and Microsoft in the current order of the Industry, as well as the bad state of mind the current Industry’s press is in. Here are some quotes from his article:

RUMOR: Disaster: Day of Crisis Canned Again

August 2, 2008

This rumor is a little fishy for my taste but I might as well spread it on a slice of bread and take a bite. Matt Casamassina of IGN broke the news that Disaster: Day of Crisis won’t be making it to consumers in their latest podcast. The thing I find strange is that Disaster was being advertised overseas and scheduled for an early July release. It was “put on hold” following an actual disaster that claimed thousands of lives, ironically enough.

The rumor comes from a pretty credible source but the fanboy inside me is hoping it’s not so. I’ll just hold my breath for an official announcement from Nintendo.
